Retro Family-Home of the Future Cartoon
Today’s post is a variation of an earlier post, which was inspired by a magazine advertisement from the 1950’s (shown below). Capturing an instant in what could be the Model American Dream has always been fascinating to me. In this case, Dad is happily mowing the law, Son is happily playing with Dog, and Mom and Daughter are happily fling home from shopping.
In case you’re interested, I drew this up and THEN found the ad which I remembered seeing years ago, which took quite a lot of doing. (It took me longer to find the sample I remembered than to draw my own). It turns out, they are eerily similar, but it doesn’t surprise me. Everything we do and see contributes to who we are and how we individually see the world.
