Childhood Obesity Epidemic Cartoon

In the 1970’s, 5% of our Nation’s children were overweight. Today, 33% ( One in every 3 kids) are obese. It is estimated that 1 in 3 kids born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes. The risk is higher for African-Americans and Hispanics who face a 1 in 2 ratio for developing diabetes. What’s worse, only 1% (ONE PERCENT) of Americans meet the criteria for cardiac health.

C’mon America, lets get this under control. Some of the conditions for obesity are genetic, but most of the factors for overeating are environmental. Time to turn off the XBOX.
