Mayor Bloomberg Fights Against Obesity
Mayor Bloomberg of New York City is trying to ban super-large sodas in an effort to curb his city’s obesity problem. Not a bad idea in concept, but impossible in execution. And hot on the heels of his announcement, National fast food chain BURGER KING has just announced a new dessert, the CARAMEL BACON SUNDAE. The bacon-crumble sundae is topped with caramel, a whole strip of bacon, and fudge, and weighs in at 510 calories. ( That’s an hour or exercise for an average sized adult).

Is it a good idea? Why is it necessary that whenever we have an issue we feel we must ban it? Isn’t that taking away liberty, instead of leaving it to the individual to choose?
The problem is that we all get to pay in SOOOOOOO many ways for this…at least someone is doing something….
I sympathize with your wanting justice of some sort. But is “doing something” good if done for the wrong reasons? That seems like Machiavellianism to me, which has never served humanity well.
Plus, there are tons of people doing something: fitness programs, making eating healthy more rewarding and exciting, coming up with more efficient and easy exercise routines, this particular cartoon above is even being constructive, building a negative image around the unhealthy food (I personally don’t agree with it’s propagandic imagery; but hey, at least he’s doing something..that doesn’t violate my liberties)
Hey that’s a very thoughtful and intelligent comment. Thank you.
