Moscow Fires
“At least it’s not 50 below!”
An amount of carbon monoxide 5 times higher than normal returned to Moscow today from nearby fires in a peat bog and forest. Earlier last week the fires were responsible for doubling the number of recorded deaths and grounded planes at airports. The number of wildfires stood at 16 as of Sunday. And the fact it’s the hottest summer in recorded history for Russia, with highs up to 100, hinders all efforts to extinguish the National Forest Fire blaze.
The background of this quickie cartoon is Moscow’s Red Square.
